SlateCore is the platform professional production companies use to manage scripts, coverage, budgets and festivals. Bringing it into the classroom prepares your students for the real market from their first short film.
[ 01 · What's included ]
Each student can request a coverage report on their script (logline, synopsis, strengths, weaknesses, recommendation). The same engine commercial readers use.
A student's script trains no model. It is read once to generate the coverage and that is it. It is never used to write or improve other scripts, never leaves the school workspace, and the SlateCore team does not read it. How we handle your script →
Assisted scene breakdown, shooting schedule, a detailed budget by account and sub-account, and call sheets. Ready to produce a real short film.
Each student has their own account, projects and task board. The professor sees everything from the program dashboard.
Projects are visible to the professor by default, but students can mark personal work as private (their pitch, a thesis they have not presented yet).
[ 02 · Use cases ]
Script coverage workshop
Each student uploads a script for coverage. SlateCore generates professional coverage; the student compares it against their own analysis and discusses it in class. They practice the development craft at a volume a human reader could never review.
Student thesis or short film
The student creates their project, uploads the script and requests coverage. They generate the scene breakdown, shooting schedule, budget and call sheets. The professor evaluates and comments directly on the deliverables — the same ones they will use in their first professional job.
Program productions
The school as a production company — it manages the short films, documentaries and projects being shot inside the program. Call sheets, budgets, breakdowns and calendars, all in one place so professors and staff can coordinate a shooting season without scattered spreadsheets.
Shared institutional catalog
The program keeps a shared catalog of script coverage, market comparables and relevant festivals. Students consult it when developing their own projects, and the institution uses it to submit work to academic circuits and festivals.
Funding and grant applications
The coordinating professor builds applications to public funds (EFICINE, FOCINE, state funds) or international grants together with the school. SlateCore organizes the folder, validates amounts to the cent and generates the documents ready for signature.

We validate every request manually
To keep commercial production companies from slipping in at the educational price, we review the supporting document and call the institution before setting up the account. Student data lives on private infrastructure and files are never mixed with other tenants.
